October 2011
Well last time I wrote summer was just around the corner and now that’s the summer well and truly over and here we are another 6 months on!  Where does the time go to?

Well we have not been idle this end.  We started with 5 little ones from the same household – Oska – who has a poorly paw, no claws on one front foot so he has a slight limp, together with his four playmates, from the same house, different litter – O’Mally – big fluffy huggy bear, Onyx – the cute quiet one, Ophelea – the terror and little Olivea – sweetness itself.  All now ready for adoption so if you know anyone in the Sheffield area who is looking to adopt a little one, please point them in our direction – they are of course spayed\neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea’d and wormed.

Then came Pumpkin – out of the blue, turned up on our door step.  Unfortunately Pumpkin has ‘issues’.  Raffles and Missy detest the sight of him and we have since found out why he may have been abandoned – he bites!  Unfortunately this behaviour is unlikely to win him any friends so he will not go up for rehoming.

We have now bought him an outdoor pen at a cost of £200 (any donations towards this are very welcome) so that he will at least be safe and warm at night. Then during the day he will have a certain amount of freedom to roam the garden, which he will have to share with Raffles.  Unfortunately going out together is not an option as the neighbours have already commented on the noise the two of them make when they are locked in a fight! In the meantime I will work with Pumpkin to try and stop this biting because underneath there is a very loving affectionate cat.  Think he must have been a hen in a former life as he loves to sit with them, or in their pen!

Then there are these gorgeous boys – Quincey and Quigley found in a cardboard box in the city centre.  Such a sweet loving pair, well socialised.  We would ideally be looking to rehome them together.

Talking of rehoming – the beautiful Sophie has hopefully found her forever home!  She is currently on foster with Jane and fingers crossed so far everything seems to be going just fine.  Jane has let Sophie take things at her own pace and her patience is being rewarded as Sophie seems to like having a whole house and owner to herself!

Thank you to Kelvyn and Ann who sit in Crystal Peaks once a month having coffee and cake at the same time as rattling the tin for us!  We are there again on the following Saturdays: 15 October, 26 November and 17 December.  Thank you of course to those of you that still contribute.  I know we have lost a few on the way this year, but I will continue to send the newsletter to you as a thank you to you for your support in the past.

Lastly we said goodbye to Poppy this summer.  She was no longer interested in her walk down the garden to sunbathe, or in being groomed.  Two things which she used to love.  She was a feisty old lady that could hold her own to the end and the little ones knew where they stood with her – at least 3 feet away!  We had her cremated and her ashes were scattered around her favourite warm spot in the garden.  Rest in peace little one.
